Recently a D365FO Tier-1 CHE SSRS instance completely
stopped working. What was strange is the service could be stopped and started
with no issues. But if you look at event viewer 5mins after it was started you
would start to see the following error message.
Report Server(WMI10) : The Configuration/Dsn
application cannot be run in Win32 mode.
In order to resolve the issue I tried the following
1.) restoring
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Reporting
Services\SSRS\ReportServer\rsreportserver.config from another server
2.) updating SSRS
3.) Repair installation of SSRS
However nothing seemed to work until I did the following to
completely remove and start with a fresh instance of SSRS and then remap it to
D365
1.)
completely uninstall SSRS
2.)
install ssrs
3.)
remove the old ssrs database
4.)
create a new database using the same names
within SSRS config
5.)
run
J:\AosService\PackagesLocalDirectory\Plugins\AxReportVmRoleStartupTask\DeploySsrsExtension.ps1
but you need to make sure you let it finish. It gives you the impression its
done but really isn’t until 10-15mins later (D365 will not recognize this as a valid SSRS
instance until this is done even though its running)
6.)
after the above completes it is letting me
run the .deploy report script for reports and apply platform updates again
